I want to whip up a few trs patch cables, but browsing the markertek site has me confused about the impedence. Should I use "mic" cable (like this ) or is it ok to use "console" cable, like this . Thanks for any help!

mike,

I believe the console cable should be fine. The impedance issue really comes into play when dealing with low voltage (mV) signals like the kind on dynamic mics. A powered signal will see less of the effects of impedance. Basically impedance is the total opposition to current flwo in an AC circuit (like resistance is for DC signals).

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I have a spool of the Mogami console cable and would not recommend it for patch cables. It is not made for the abuse that patch cables take. I'd go wth the mic cable.

my $0.02 anyway...
Kevin.
