Which mic for my setup please

Hello all,
Its been a while since I dabbled at home recording and last time i got so frustrated I gave up and sold all my kit, but now its time to try again. I now have a brand new PC and I have just purchased a Audiophile 2496 sound card (cos I like it) and a ART tube mp original preamp. I have both protools and adobe audition 3 software all I need is a mic. I did have a studio projects B1 mic which although was a great piece of kit was not suitable for me recording my didgeridoo which is what i want my setup for. Surely I can get a decent recording quality with the setup i have to make a cd to sell at festivals i perform at this year etc. I just need some advice on what mic to get to accompany my setup for recording the didgeridoo and the less money it is the better.

This thread was more than typical til I got to the part about the didgeridoo. Is this solo didgeridoo recording work, or do you need a more multi-purpose mic?

Just my off-the-cuff suggestion, but might an omnidirectional mic work? You could give the Naiant omni's a go, and it won't set ya back more than 40 bucks.

I like the Naiant mics and think they would do a good job. Dynamic omnis should also work well. Something like the EV635 or RE50 or the Realistic 1070b mics.

Be sure to get two mics to record in stereo. I'm sure the sounds can fill the room. If you use two omnis try a spaced pair. If you use two cardiods try x/y. These are good standard stereo mic placements. Be sure to also check your results in mono. Some stereo recordings lose a lot played mono.

You should also try recording outside. This will probably more closely match the sound you get at festivals.

Thanks for the suggestions, i like the sound of the naiant mics but cant seem to find anyone who supplies them here in the UK.
The microphone will be used purley for solo didgeridoo, i may add some djembe drum and other percussion but will use the same mic and just multitack it in as i will be playing everything myself.
I am looking forward to getting it all set up as I am hoping it is going to give me a half decent quality recording.
Anymore suggestions would be great and i will keep posted of my progress and when i get my first recording done will share it with thos who are inte3rested,

Decent mics

an sm57 is always a good choice if you are at all not sure what to get and the tube pre will make it sound quite good. I have use a rode NT- 1A and had good results how ever i have never tried it on a digeredoo. One of my personal favorite mics is the MXL V69. its a tube mic and has a great classic warm tone, if you can try out the mics cause i find its a personal thing if you like it then its worth it.
