Which headphone amp?

With the QC issues of behringer, I need some suggestions on which headphone amp for around $100. It needs to be 4 channels or more and I would like it to be rack mounted.

I'm open to suggestions.

Well you just described the Behringer HA4600 to a T.

I know of nothing else in that price range, IMHO it is a great piece, so why don't you want it?

Behringer QC issues?
 
It just seems like there's a lot of problems with them. I guess worst cast, I just get one from a place that would allow me to return it right ?

Samson has one just like it for nearly twice the price, but the same QC problems there too, I would think.

Yeah, that's what brought on the doubt about the HA4600.

I'll just go for it and test it out extensively when i get to make sure it's cool

I've had an HA4600 for about 1.5 years (got it right about when they first came out) I think it works very well - I've got 4 or 5 pieces of Behringer gear and have not had a problem at all.

QC can be a problem with a lot of companies - in particular the companies that offer the lowest price gear (gotta cut corners somewhere). However, some pieces of gear, such as headphone amps just ain't important enough in the signal chain to pay for the QC that may of may not be on the more "top end gear"

I'll pay for good mics, I'll pay for decent speakers but headphones & headphone amps just are not part of my critical listening chain.

Dunno if a half-rack unit would suit you, but ART has a new half-space 5-output headphone amp for $79-ish. Sounds just fine - then again, so does the behringer.

Honestly, at this price, I don't think anything is going to be signinifcantly better, or better made, than the behringer. Not that I'd go out of my way to recommend it, mind you, but it's just that there's nothing else on the market that's particularly better or worse. I've had that little rolls amp, too, and it sounded/performed exactly like the behringer. You've gota figure that any headphone amp in this price range is, pretty much, disposable. Even in the audiophile/hi-fi world, a good headphone amp is a rarity.
