Well, it looks like I'm 99% sure I'm going to be getting a Firepod. I was in a huge dilemma over to get a Phonic/Alesis firewire mixer or a Firepod, and I think I'm gonna go with the Firepod. I really wanted the mixer b/c of the 10 extra 1/4" inputs and all the onboard EQ/panning/etc, but I think I'd rather have much better quality preamps then much more onboard stuff. I can get used to doing all that in the software (Cubase SE3 most likely).

But now that I find myself interested in a Firepod, I have found a few deals on eBay with some different options. So here are all the deals I've found...I'll include a poll so you can vote on which you think would be best. Next to the numbers are the things that come in the deal other than the Firepod.

1) Furman M8, Sennheiser HD-202 heaphones, and HP4 headphone amp
2) HP4 headphone amp, and two Behringer HPM1000 headphones
3) HP4 headphone amp, Sennheiser HD-202 headphones, and three Samson R21 mics

If you guys know any other good deals that aren't on eBay, please post em. Let me hear any other input/advice you have. I'll also be getting a Raxxess 4-space oak rack to put the Firepod in, and any other rackmounted things I get in the future.

Thanks.

What about the Firepod and Cubase SX3 on Ebay? I think it is $799!

Don't have that kind of money :o

However, I thought that I could always update my SE3 later along to SX3 when I've got a lot more money. I don't think I need that massive/good a program just starting off, but when I get further along I might get it (if I feel like I need it).

I would personally go with option 3, just because you could probably get more use out of the mics. I'm a little blah over the power conditioner, and option two is worthless in comparison.

Someone told me that if your room/building has not that great of wiring, then the electricity will transfer into your recordings and they won't sound as good. He said that a power conditioner will help regulate not only the power, but the electrical noise as well, which probably won't be much of a problem in the room I'm making, but could be...I'm not sure if I want to risk it.

I'm going to GC in a few minutes and will check if they can match any of the deals.

So the best GC could do for option 1 was $550. I think I might try to have have dad get them down to $465 so that it's $500 after tax. If that won't work (I kinda doubt it will), then I'll just buy the eBay deal or from the actual website.
