Which DAW do you guys use?

True, The software doesn't give you your sound. The converters and the gear you use during routing determines the quality of your sound. But I like Sonar's work flow.

Adobe Audition CS6.

It doesn't do MIDI at all (I have an old version of Sonar I can use for that but I haven't touched it in years). However, for recording editing an mixing recorded sound, Audition really works well. It also has some pretty effective restoration tools as well.

I started out with Audacity but it only took me a month or so to get frustrated/annoyed with it. From recommendations on here, I started trialling Reaper and have been using it for precisely 25 days. I think it's great. I'll buy it because it's cheap, never crashes, easy to use, LOADS of functionality and capability to keep me going as I progress.

Heaps of people that know what they're doing use Reaper, so there is a plethora of specific user guides, forums, youtube videos, etc. to learn the stuff you need to on the fly. I don't know anything on the other software available, but if you're just starting out I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with Reaper. Ticks a lot of boxes as far as I'm concerned.

Mixcraft 5 and considering the upgrade to Mixcraft 6.

IMO.....I found it to be the easiest to use and the price is VERY budget friendly.

They also have an excellent forum and the online tech support is great! They have boat loads of "how-to" instructional videos on YouTube too.

Adobe Audition 3.0, but I bought Pro Tools MP9 and realized it won't work on Windows Vista, so I'm planning to buy Windows 7 someday...

There's nothing that I dislike about the program.

The stock plugins are absolutely top notch and it allows me to concentrate on my playing/composing without getting in the way
