Hi all, first off I have never recorded a thang in my life but recently purchased the firepod, several mikes and BFD drum software. As I am sure you all know the firepod comes with le (similar to se?), but I am thinking upgrade this. Why you ask since a mixer as far as I know is what I use to make shakes after I work out and the rest is an equal mystery to me? Because I know I want to do this and want to learn the right way. So, in totally not technical terms, If I go with the cheaper sl vrs sx what will I be missing? And how different are the interfaces? Thanks to all in advance......

I think it's pretty dumb to supply software with 4 track capabilities with the firepod. Defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I understand that the latest versions of LE shipping with the firepod support up to 8 simultaneous tracks.

Ahhh that would make more sense. Maybe they had lots of complaints?

Actually I spoke with firepod directly and they said the old le was for 8 and the new one that ships with the firepod only supports 4....

Im assuming you meant you spoke to presonus directly. You weren't just talking to your firepod again were you?

the firepod in my head yes...it drowns out the noise of the barking dog telling me to kill.

extendedping, when did you speak to them last? From what I've gathered off of this site, it started with a high # of tracks (probably 8) dropped to either 2 or 4, then got bumped back up (either 4 or 8). All I'm saying is, since you last spoke to them it might have changed.

Assuming the LE w/ the firepod has an ability for 8, you should stick with LE for a while. There's tons to learn just from LE. If it doesn't support 8 theres no major problem with just getting SE, since buying SE then upgrading to SX is just as cheap as getting SX outright (i'm pretty sure). It's easier to learn the software by starting with the basics.
