Being so heavily invested in cassette deck equipment,...
procuring blank Type II cassettes is an important subject to me. Honestly, the supply seems to be dwindling, but tape is still available. I've considered doing a big volume tape-buy to future-proof my investment, which might total a few dozen Portastudios, Syncasets and other "standard" cassette decks,... all of which I don't want to go obsolete for lack of media. I already have several hundred new blank cassettes, but I've been working up to buying another couple hundred pieces.
... of my original thread... AND the time when I was using cassettes. I've been doing all of my recording on my laptop via Cool Edit Pro 2.1 / Adobe Audition 1.0 for the past three years. My 488 MKII is now an audio mixer...
That said, I still want to have high quality high bias cassettes available for use in this machine because I can definitely see returning to it from time to time to do various projects. I still think that these cassette portastudios are way cool and still very much a viable medium. There's a sound that recordings made on these machines have that, despite all the limitations, is special.
