What's up guys. I'm need to get a new capo and trying to decide which one to get. Lookin at just the basic Kyser's. Which one seems to be the best be the one you can just clamp on or the one that you use a screw to tighten. thank alot

Clamp 100%... the other ones are to much of a pain in the but.. adn don't get the one thts a strap...tht sux :p

I've got one of those Jim Dunlop clamping ones, it's pretty good, but the spring does seem to be pretty strong, so you have to position it quite close to the fret if you want to avoid bending the strings out of tune.

clamp definitely

I really like the red, white, and blue "Freedom" Kyser but that's just a matter of taste.

I bought a Dickies capo at Walmart for a spare and it actually works very well for $10.00. The spring isn't quite as strong as a Kyser but it looks a lot like a Kyser.

The Shubb will last forever. And you DON'T screw them on, the screw is an adjustment. They have a cam action lever to clamp them on. By far the best capo. The only part which can wear out is the rubber sleeve which actually "frets" the strings, and you can buy a new one for $2.

Elastic just sucks, period.

The Kysers and other similar products have springs that wear out, eventually. Plus, they are bigger and more awkward (at least for me) when you are playing. I carry them (just as I carry the elastic ones), but the only one I recommend is the Shubb.

Oh, and even though I sell the Shubb for more than the Kyser, I make a better profit on the Kyser, so my preference for the Shubb is purely a matter of function.

Shubb at home and for recording. Kyser on stage because it's slightly less faffy.

What the hell does "faffy" mean?

I also use a Shubb for recording. Otherwise, I prefer the Dunlop Trigger capo to the Kyser Quick Change.

which capo?

I've never tried the Shubb on guitar but I use them on both my banjo and dobro. They are great capos but can be awkward in a quick key change. IMHO

I use a Paige and a Kyser. I prefer the Paige, because it's smaller, thinner, less mass to get in the way. But, it's a bit slower to get on and off. And it frets all of the strings. I use the Kyser when I need to be quicker changing the capo, or when I want to capo only five strings.
