The Traynor YCS100

I don't have much experience, but I've played this a couple times @ the local music store and it is fun to play with and has quite a few options that would make it worth the sticker price.

This is actually a good deal. You can get this thing much cheaper from affordableaudio.com, he claims he can do 60% of list + shipping, which means it could be had for around $750-800 maybe? Definitely worth a look, and I do regret letting go of the little YCV20WR I used to have. 3 independent channels is a huge selling point, and I love the way Traynor does clean overdrive, tough and gritty sounding. Built in Canada! Wish I could try one to see if handles a wide variety of tone settings as well as some of the boutique-ish amps do.

Personally if I had to spend 2k on a new head I'd go with either an Orange AD30. Vox AC30 head. Dr Z sr head. 65 amp. You may be able to get a Bogner shiva head under that range too..

Those are top choice boutique amps and absolutely amazing.
I'm proud to have owned all of them at some point. and have recordings of most of them.

Is Rivera a unique sound all its own? Or is it just what Fender wants to be?Will it be like the best Fender ever? Or more versatile than that?

Like the best Fender ever, with a built-in flamethrower.

And their power ratings are pretty conservative. As in their 45-55 watt amps will blow your house down. Built like a tank too. With a Weber MASS you can do pretty much all the brown and blackface tones at levels that won't peel paint off your walls. Takes Yellowjackets well too.

Not as quiet as a Two Rock, but not $4-5 grand either.

Hi. No it's not like that. They use EL-34's whereas Fenders are generally more in the 6L6 vein.

However, the cleans are very Fenderish but a bit more refined. More smooth with less bite. The dirty channel is more Marshall like.....even though the combo utilizes an open-backed cabinet. I found it easy to get classic Marshall sounds from this amp like those found on Saxon records, etc. The dirty channel is very very good and even rolls off the bass a bit so that you don't get mush.

Hope this helps.
