I'm looking to build myself a little piezo-esque guitar. I'd like to do it with an SG body. I don't want the guitar to have regular pickups, just the piezo pickup. I don't know if using a piezo pickup made for an aocustic but attached under the SG's bridge will work. What I was going to do is get one of those Fishman Powerbirdge things, but they don't come in Tune-O-Matic. So I have 2 options.

One: Attach a piezo pickup made for an acoustic and hope for the best.

Two: Somehow find an SG body with nothing routed (I don't want the pickup cavities anyhows, and will probably fill them with wood putty, and then put on a custom pickguard) and route out a hole for a powerbridge.

I am also on quite a small budget. It would be mucho helpful if the body had a neck and tuners/bridge. I don't even want it to have the electronics, and they don't have to work. Anyone know where I might be able to get one (even if its in horrible condition) cheaply?

There was a time when I would say "pawn shop" as an answer to such a question.....but unfortunately, all the pawn shop people seem to be watching "Antiques Roadshow" lately....

consequently, anything even resembling an SG body is usually valued at one hundred fifty thousand dollars....:D

but all the guitars at pawn shops now are priced way high....strats or silvertones, doesn't matter.....

however, I can't think of any other guitar graveyard that might have such....although you might get lucky trying, it IS possible..

also, if you wanna fight off all the blue haired old ladies, flea markets occassionally have the odd instrument........gibs

I bought my SG '62 reissue anniversary edition pretty much stripped. One pickup, but a two octave neck at Guitar Satan for $250 brand new!!!!

Damn! Thanks Guitard, thats exactly what I need. It'll be a little more pricey then originally intended, but I'll be able to get a SG body custom routed for no pickups and a Standard Trem. That means I have to put out $200ish for the body and $200 for the power bridge, and I still need a neck and tuners, but I'll make do. Thanks alot!
