Thanks for the realtraps link! I'll give it a go.
I've hung the bass trap in the dining room.
Took your advice. Did some serious thinking and measured some new distances. Pulled out the papasan chair. The nearfields are as far apart as they can possibly be without the one on the right getting knocked over by the patio door. The bx5a's are now about a foot and a half closer to the desk too.
The sweet spot looks about like this now. Again, the photo's a little farther back so you can see the speakers.
I've pushed the couch forward so that its almost right up against my control chair. That's not really a bad thing. Makes for a lot more space in front of the dining area. The dining room table is up against the wall to create a bit more space as well. I have enough room to drop that curtain now.
I know, Panda, you really want me to move the keyboard. But the mixer is in a good spot. Especially for the way I work. Now that the speakers are forward a little more (the side reflection panels still catch the bulk of the flutter, although they aren't dead center at the mid-point anymore) I have to lean back slightly to put my ears directly in the sweet spot. From there, I've got the mixer on a rack on the right so I can reach over with my right hand and hit presets for the automated "flying" faders without moving my head.
Midi connecting the faders to Cubase or Sonar is really a chore. It's possible, and for larger projects, I'll give it a go. Right now, I'm going to work with what I'm comfortable doing.
I'm going to go find myself a better chair.
Ok? Satisfactory? I'm definitely liking the stereo sound better with the stereo mons farther apart. And working with the video mons closer together is easier on the neck.
