Hey everyone, new to the Home Recording forum. Please excuse me if my terminology isn't quite accurate, but I'm gonna try my best. I am currently in a master bedroom with the dimensions of 18 x 15 x 11ft, with a bathroom, and 2 6 x 6ft closets. My mixing console is at the 15ft wall position. A friend gave me about 60-70, 2x2ft 22 pyramid Acoustic Panels. I'm in the process of building some wall baffles, and some diffusers, but I really don't want to throw out my acoustic foam.. because there is A LOT of it, and it has really been useful thus far. Any suggestions as to how I can best put the foam to good use? Thanks for any suggestions. :D

Give the foam back and buy some rigid fiberglass. Foam sucks. Your room is too small to make use of diffusion, and I don't really know what a "baffle" is.

You want broadband absorbtion, and lots of it.

Thanks

Yeah, I figured as much. I'm going to start with 6 of the broadband absorbers (baffles).. and go from there. I was thinking of putting all of the acoustic foam in my "isolated" vocal booth, and sticking some bass traps in the corners. I would like to put up a link to a video of the setup, but I haven't made 5 or more posts haha..

You don't need a vocal booth. It will make your vocals sound creepy. Sing in the big room.

Also: Welcome to HR, ibengreen. You're in the right place.

Thanks again

Only one more post and I can post my video lol. Thanks again for the advice.

Only place I use foam (that was free from closed studio) is above my drumkits cymbals. I'm not even sure it's doing anything but the purple sure looks sweet!

Well, the design is really pretty.

These guys would be proud:

But it's probably doing nothing good for your sound.

Haha, thanks.. I think. But thats the reason I'm asking now. An older gentleman I know pretty well is coming to look at my room on Monday to help me out a bit. I'm not sure what to call it, but it's his job.. So I know he'll have some good tips for me. I just wanted to get some other point of views before then so I know what I can do, and what I should not do. Thanks

Hehe...I was just razzing ya. :D

Haha no offense taken. I went back and watched that HGTV video and cracked up laughing. Yeah.. The design is credited to my graphic designer girlfriend.. Shes obsessive about it. I've only been doing studio stuff for about a year now.. I'm interning at a local studio.. And so I'm picking up a lot of great stuff about acoustics. Im just a little discouraged as to whether or not my situation is workable. Idk though, I guess I'll find out.

I'm not here to judge, man. What two consenting adults do behind closed doors is none of my business.
