Hey folks,
I've been making music for a long time, but only recently decided to try to do it a bit more professionally. I don't really know where or how to start though.
First off, I use:
-Edirol UA-25 Audio Interface (I use this to record guitar and sometimes keyboards, which I plug directly into the interface)
-Cakewalk's Sonar
-Edirol Orchestral, EZdrummer and Absynth VST's
All the songs that I make on the computer sound extremely messy, muddy, and all the sounds seem to be fighting each other. I hear that EQ might fix my problem, but I don't understand EQ at all. I've read guides, but they always seem to just tell you what to do instead of explaining how the basics and how EQ works. I don't like to do things without knowing what exactly I'm doing.
My problem is not the recording per se (I barely record anyway, I use mostly VST's), but getting the song to sound nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
-boxGARDEN.
