Here is a Quik Question for yall
when your recording vocals do you record on Track 1
then copy the whole track to track 2 and then pan Track 1 left and then Track 2 right? Or do you just record on track 1 and keep it dead center?????

thanks

Depends on how thick you want, you can do both. If you pan the two similar tracks to extreme left and right and give it a few milli seconds delay it sounds from both extreme ends, if they dont have a delay it is going to be in dead center.

Yeah. If I want to chorus the vocals I just sing it a couple times. Alot of times I'll do one main vocal, use one of my takes I didn't deem to be the best one as a doubler panned wherever and at a much lower volume. Then 2 more harmony vox like an octave up or something, or a third or fifth whatever fits. Those are also mixed quite low. So they're barely noticeable. To an untrained ear it'll sound like only one vocal track was done if I do it right, but it's actually much more full and it helps smooth out any intonation problems you may have. And I have a lot. For a bigger more noticeable chorus I'll do something similar but mix the backing vox at a higher level.

I generally don't mess around with just copying a track and adding delay because I like the little differences that only another take can add. But then again my mixes don't sound all that great so maybe I'm doing something wrong. :D

Naw, just the opposite. Default first assumption would be the vocal straight up the center, then ask what and how many layers.

When I want chorus, I usually reach for my "chorus" plugin before using up a track with copying, panning, and shifting. 24 tracks can run out faster than you might think. :)

Man 24!! I've only got 8. I know what your saying though. As long as I have a good bounce plan I can get by just fine. If I start having to bounce bounces then I'll use chorus or a doubler effect. Haven't run into that yet though. I've been keeping all my songs under 20 tracks.
