Is it better 2 hook up your MIDI contol through USB or an MIDI I/O. I have a 1010lt but it seems most controls on the market are USB hookups.

Not sure it matters much as MIDI is much slower than most interfaces.

You dont need to worry about the speed, just worry about the trouble shooting 
sometimes usb creates problems depending upon drivers, so if you just have one midi controller and one synth you can just use the soundcard joystick port to do the work, if you have more controllers and more synth go for a good usb ones. Midi information is very slow so you dont have to worry about the speed.
