What's your preferred overhead technique?

Making them an equal distance from the snare (generally you want this cut through and sound beefy).

I like behind the kit sound, as drums really project toward the drummer as opposed to face on (in front) except of course for the kick drum.

I suppose it depends on the sound, with regards to the positioning but my rule is equal distance from the mic capsules to the snare.
