What's your favourite instrument and why did you pick it?

I knew a hooker like that.

:p

........:laughings::laughings:

I think drums are my favorite. It's so much more physical than any other instrument...I really feel like I've done something when I've finished a track, you know?

Plus, they're wicked loud, and despite not being a drummer, I found that if you have decent rhythm, and stick to playing simple material, it's not that hard to sound reasonably good. It's really fun to mess with your own drum tracks in terms of processing and stuff, plus it's the one thing that people most often don't do themselves in favor of loops, samples, drum machines, etc., so actually playing and recording them was gratifying in that sense.

I'm currently without a kit, but the 2 years or so that I had one were great fun.

Playing guitar is something I've done off an on since I was 14. 30 years later and I can do some things reasonably well, but never really got all that good at it. I like to think that with some time and effort, I could've been a drummer!

I had a banjo, but I left it on the back seat of the car with the window down ................. When I came back there were 2 banjos.

Alan.

Hahahahahhahahahahaha !!!

funniest thing all week :D

According to Mark Twain,"A gentleman is someone who plays the banjo, but doesn't." Wonder if he ever came up with anything for harmonicas?

Piano -- it was chosen for me by my parents, though we always had one and I played it (or played with it) well before lessons. When electronic instruments were introduced "piano" translated into "keyboard," which I love because, with it, I can play ANY instrument, real or imagined.

I can't even play my favourite instruments ! :D
I dig drums, violins, saxophones, sitars more than any others.....and I can't play them.
Unless they're sampled and I pretend and derive great joy from doing so.

Ah yes, there are a bunch of instruments I love but can't play. Sitar and sax are awesome. Same here on the drums. I also love bag pipes, vibraphone & double bass. Hmm haven't yet found a sample for bag pipes...that's bound to be trouble when I find it. :D

You might find some good bagpipes in this package. I've had it a few years now and used tastefully, there are some lovely sounds in there. They're not all good but they're worth having and you can get it cheaper than this site if you hunt around.
And I was going to get these a couple of years back. I can't remember why I didn't. Maybe because I liked the ones in Miroslav philharmonik.

Yeh that sounds great, thanks for the links. Maybe I will look into purchasing this, it even has spoons and bones! I've just been using free stuff until now, but the more obscure instruments are hard to find.
