Simple question: What's your favorite preamp for $150 or less cuz I'm building a cheap studio and have no clue which preamps are nice?

I have the Line6 toneport stuff...so Its a toss up between the API 512 or the Neve 1073 models.

IME, the DMP3 is about the *only* even reasonably decent preamp currently available at that price point.
Sh*t for headroom (what do you expect for $150?), but if you keep your levels reasonably normal ("normal" NOT being "as hot as you can get without clipping"), you could do much worse than the DMP3.

DMP3 is the only one I can think of. Saying that my Tampa cost $140 secondhand!
