Whats your fav acoustic PU???

What is your favorite acoustic pick up?? I am looking into getting possibley an LR Baggs I Beam and I was wanting to hear about the ones you guys prefer.

I've got a Fishman Prefix Plus in my Larivee and it's not bad. I think all pickups are slightly sucky but the Fishman seems to do a passable job if you have a decent pre and PA.

It's a Fishman Natural II acoustic. It sounds very natural. I think part of the success of mine is way it was installed. The bridge base had to be milled slightly deeper and I had a heavy bones bridge put in. The guitar actually plays and sounds better acoustically after the modification. Plugged in, the sound is very clean and clear.

I have both Fishman and L.R. Baggs systems on my acoustic guitars. I prefer the Baggs system over the Fishman because it sounds more natural and smooth.

Also, the Bagg's systems cost about 30% less than comparable Fishman units. That's because Fishman advertises a lot more and they pay big rock stars like Dave Matthews to endorse their products. That's where the extra 30% goes.

But compare them side-by-side and let your own ears decide.

Nobody here has any idea what kind of tone pleases your own personal taste.

i have a maton guitar with a maton ap5 picup... it really is a nice PU but you kinda have to tweak it alittle to get it sound really really nice...

I'm a soundhole pickup guy. I like the Fishman Rare Earth series and the EMG ACS. I'm currently saving for a Sunrise to put in my main guitar, a J45.

i have a putw stealth installed in a taylor 314ce. it's wired to the onboard fishman prefix+ preamp. awesom sound.

here's a couple of pages doing side-by-side comparison's of a lot of pickup systems, though imho, UST are not meant to be used this way (they have to be used with a preamp, EQ or amp..)
