What's this prog all about?

I've had the demo lying on my HD and I think I checked it once but what's it really for If I have eg. Cubase VST...?

it's a cheap alternative to Cubase and the like. Some people prefer it to more expensive and better featured(?) programs because it's very easy to use and you get quick replies to problems from its creator. He also regularly brings out updated and improved versions which are usually free to registered users. The improvements are often made in direct response to suggestions made by users. Many people who use N-track seem to like it a lot.

n-Track has more features than most big name software. That doesn't make it better necessarily, but I sure like it.

does N-track have functions such as "Normalise" Slack?

Yup...it does but I've never used it. I mix to about -3db and master with TRacks...saturate, whatever and my mixes are as hot as I need.
