Today a friend deliverred a Hammond L122s with a leslie 910 to our studio. They are going to be used on a record project soon. This project will take a long time, so the Hammond will be there for several months. It will probably be offered for us to buy for a reasonable 'friends-price'

Anybody got any idea what this combo is worth?

Not a lot. The L122 doesnt have the same sound as a the B3, it has a differant percusion, if IIRC it doesnt have the chorus, or the same foldback that the B/C3 has. the organ probably 300 or so I would guess, but I am just guessing. The leslie would actually be worth a bit more, but its a solid state model, so again it doesnt have the "sound" of the 122 or the 147. Hard to say, but I wouldnt pay over a grand for the two of them...probably more like 6 or 700. But the real test is play it. If you like the sound, buy it.

It sure looks cool though!

Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt kick it out of the studio, I'm just saying that the market value on it is lower than a C or B3. Kieth Emerson has a number of them he tours with....Course he throws knives into them on stage, and kicks them around....he even had one catch on fire on stage once. Hence having more than one on tour with him.

I know, it's just that these things come into the studio once in a while, and are offered really cheap. A couple of weeks ago i had a hammond xb-5 with Leslie, which was eventually bought for a bargain by the bassplayer of that session. Same thing this time..I am starting a recording session for which we needed a hammond..so we asked around and somebody came up with this hammond/leslie combo from a friend. This friend doesn't do anything with it, knows it a hammond, but not wat its worth. me neither. So we use it for the recording which will take several weeks and we'll see what happends with it. mayby this dude is happy he got rid of it, and will sell it of for a bargain, in which case it would be cool to have it in the studio. If he wants a real good price for it, he can come and take it back because i'm not interested. I'm not a player myself.
