What's the best "Cakewalk??"

So for a few months now, I've been gearing up to switch from recording off of a portable studio (Boss BR1180CD), to computer based software. Now, I've looked in to GT3, Sonar 4, Sonar 4XL, ect...All these different editions......Not sure of all the differences. I know GT3 is your basic 32 track, but on all the Sonars.....Do all come with a "drum machine" built in, or only certain edition come with that???? I would get GT3 but then I need some sort of fruity loops software.......Am I just making this harder than what it really is?????
 
The best thing about Cake is they normally have demos off all the stuff

Just go to the site www.cakewalk.com and download what you want to try

They also have all the features loaded side by side for comparison sake

FWIW - Sonar Studio/Producer may be a big learning curve at 1st but you will not be dissapointed at all - Right out of the box - ready to go

Synths, Drum Machines, EQ's, Compressors - check it out
 
I use GTP3 and really like it but, if you need midi you need to look at other products. I have used most all cakewalk products and have been pleased with all of them.
 
The newest version of Sonar.....6, I believe.

Producer Edition too!
 
Get Sonar 6 Producer, that's the best Sonar I've bought. Not regretting any.
 
I went back to 4 after getting 5 (Producer).

I am happy with it, it serves my needs quite well.

But hey, I thought CakewalkPro Audio NINE was the Bee's Knees.
 
Hey Maximum, why did you go back to 4 after using 5? With all the posts I may try 6.

And TMatt. I started using cakewalk with no recording experience.(unless i was the player) So I was not sure I could make it work at all. With the manual and just trying everything and reading these posts it was quite easy.
 
Go & play with stuff that friends & acquaintances have then make up YOUR OWN MIND based on the feel, intuitiveness & ease of use if it's your 1st move into Comp/DAW don't get too complicated. A cheap'n'good set up with Cakewalk Pro Audio will amaze you as much as Sonar 6.

Ummmm, no. None of them are, thats why they are good. It all depends on what you are doing, sonar can do some incredibly advanced stuff.
