I'll never forget the night a VW pulled into the local Jack in the box where my local high school friends would hang out at night. This guy gets out and ask if any one wants to race. Further discussion's and the dude admits his bug is "built" and turns 11's in the quarter mile.. I call bullshit...he says hop in...HOLY SHIT! Yep he had a built bug that could smoke most any of the muscle cars that were parked there that night. My GTO had a 389 with tri power, a "3/4 race" sig erson cam, muncie 4 speed and the 390 posi-traction rear end......best time I ever got was in the low 13'sI was the VW Beetle guy you all were leaving in the dust. Shout out for the boobie prize. They all had damn good heat, I tell ya. I mean really good!
Not with N.J. State inspections. They were going to put it on the lift and I pulled in a bit to much. They told me to back it up about a foot. Then they told me to come back when I had reverse, which was never. That had some real cast iron under the hood. Reverse gear was an option.
What happened? You purchased a car service manual and fixed it yourself?come back when I had reverse, which was never.
Honda Acura from 89-04 had their act together making fantastic machines.Other than replacing the timing belt, the engine was all original. Those things were bulletproof!
You ever try cooking hot pockets on the way in to work with them?I had a VW Beetle, and the heater vent was right by your accellerator foot.
I literally arrived everywhere 'hotfoot', and otherwise freezing cold.
KeroseneA buddy got himself a '65 VW Bus which came with a portable heater for rear heating. Some kind of small portable camping type space heater. I never knew what fuel it used. This was in Fairfax, Virginia and would have choked us to death come winter time.
When my high school friends got their first cars from their parents.. Like a 80 Cutlass 350, or 78 Grand Prix with 400"/th400 automatics with lockup .We would get a 2800-3000 stall(Jeggs/Warchowskis $89) and 3:73+ gears in it fast as we could. Public works had various rear ends, drum to drum, with the ring and pinion(ford 9" or 8.5" gm. $85 bucks or work an 8 hour Saturday for it..none of that shit exists anymore.I'll never forget the night a VW pulled into the local Jack in the box where my local high school friends would hang out at night. ... The transmission blew up in Rhode Island. I left it there and hitchhiked home. What happened? You purchased a car service manual and fixed it yourself?
