Hi All,
Well I am still getting poor recording quality results with my current setup which is an M Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card, A Behringer tube ultrgain pre amp and a Shure SM57 Mic.I have managed to scrape together £150 so can someone give me an idea what would be best to spend it on to make what I have give me a lot better quality recordings whether its just replace the pre amp or mic or both etc you know what I mean. I will buy my hardware off of either Ebay or www.makingwavesaudio.co.uk , making waves is a great site and has shed loads of hardware.
Anyway can someone point me in the right direction, I was advised to buy the setup I currently have and I am not happy so I want this time to be the last time I change my setup for now anyway. The setup will be for recording didgeridoo so you know what I should need.....

get the Behringer tube hiss injector on eBay and invest in a decent mic pre. The M-Audio DMP3 won't break the bank and you'll get a lot of mileage out of it and notice a HUGE difference.

...just a starting point :)

I'm the only Timbo on this board.
I contacted my attorney and he is in the process of getting a cease and desist order for anyone using my name. :D :D :D :D

I think you may want to look into a condenser mic. And the DMP3.

Welcome to HR-BBS.
Stop by the cave sometime.

All in favor, say "Aye"
Check out the MXL/Studio Projects/Marshall/Octava stuff for a decent starter condensor.
The audiophile 2496 is fine for now, unless you find you need more inputs; and the 57 is useful for other things.
