What soundcard sould I get?

Ok, so a wanna turn my room to a little home studio. I have a drumkit (i am a drummer), and I got drum mics (Shure PG series) and a computer. So what I need to know is what kind of soundcard sould I buy? I have 7 mics on my drums and it would be great to have inputs to all the mics, I will probably not use all at once all the time, but it would be nice to mix the drums in the computer since I don`t got anything of comprssor, gate or something like that on a rack.
What I wanna do with the studio is to have fun! play in drumtracks and demos with my bands and other friendbands. Nothing seriouse, only fun!
First of all is my drum mics ok? and what soundcard will fitt my needs?
Is samplitude a great program?

Oh yes! Since I am new here I have to ask, since I am a metaldrummer! I really love triggerd bassdrums! And what kind of software can I trigger sounds? Some good freeware? Tanx again!

since you have 7 mics, and want an input for each one, then you would probably need an 8-preamp soundcard or a soundcard with ADAT and then an ADAT 8-channel preamp. check out the presonus firepod, that would suit your needs perfectly i think.

as far as software, there is lots out there to choose from. i personally like cakewalk stuff but that is just me.
