What software should i use?

Don't be surprised if you have to use two different software packages. One for midi and one for audio / wav. You can always edit the midi in post and assign different instruments, even custom ones. So don't fret if you can't get the actual sound you want at the point of capture.

As far as ProTools. I've never used it. And I've heard of several studios that only have it installed on one machine. One that sits in a closet somewhere. Just so they can list it in the credits. But they don't actually use it, unless someone specifically requires it of them. Which most don't. Same with Avid for video. Sure if you need broadcast standards strictly adhered to you MIGHT use it. But unless you have a specific "PAID" reason for using it, you probably wont use it. Lots of other options that are quite capable of the basic things that most people need. Often with much lower system requirements / costs.

Great!!!

It was the exact same confusion that led to the near throwing of things I referred to earlier. The plug labelled "Midi In" means INto the computer, so you want to plug that to the "Midi Out" on the drum module (OUT of the module and INto the computer), and vice versa for the others. The "Midi Out" plug means OUT of the computer, so that goes to the "Midi In" jack on the drum module (OUT of the computer and INto the module).

I've never used any other midi sequencer than Reaper, so I can't say what it may or may not be lacking, but it has worked fine for me. Lets me correct my timing errors, which is awsome. I honestly don't know how real drummers do what they do, but I can't do it!

Anyway, glad to hear it's working for you:)

One other thing (that you may already know). If you want to be able to use the TD9 and/or the keyboard, you don't have to move the cables around each time. Run the Midi Out cable to the Midi In on the TD9, then get a standard Midi cable and run it from Midi Out on the TD9 to the Midi In on the keyboard, then plug the Midi IN cable into the Midi Out/Thru jack on the keyboard, so it all makes a big loop. Now you can play either one and Reaper can record what you play. You'll have to play around with the Midi Channels on the devices (ie. setup the TD as channel 1, and the keyboard as channel 2) if you want to play back to the keyboard or drum module instead of through VSTi plugins, or if you want to record from both devices at the same time.

Richt now I use Reaper for recording and editing and Reason 5 for all the other creating stuff and it seems to work fine for me, just have to figure all the details on both software.
Also J, thanks for the midi advise. I was wondering already how i could record my drums and keyboard simultaniously as I like to jam with a friend of mine. So I basically buy a normal MIDI cable and route it all together, saves me some money:)

Cheers
