Hello all! I'm just getting started in home recording and would like to purchase a 4 track recorder to record songs at my house. I would love to make my own CD's and I have a great computer. I need a recorder at a good price that can be run into my computer so I can edit/burn to CD-R. I'm just getting started so I need something easy to use, but I learn fast and need room to grow as well :) Any help would be immensly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi matt, if you have a great computer, maybe you
can bypass the four-track recorder and do it all on the
computer! There are programs like Cakewalk Home
Studio and Cubasis that are cheap (70 bucks) and
will serve your purpose well.

If you learn fast, forget a four-track, go computer.
If you must go four-track , check out the fostex
or tascam 4 -tracks, they are cheap, but they
will not compare to a computer recording. Check
out N tracks too, a full blown studio for 50 clams.

Don't forget about microphones.

If you go the computer route, check the soundcard on your computer.

If you soundcard will work I would say go the computer route...you'll get better quality and flexibility than you would with a tape machine.

I would comment more about computer recording, but it would be all lies...don't know anything!

Computer Recording

Thanks David and DALtune, I really appreciate your help! :)
The thing is, my computer is at a different location then my instruments are, so I need some way to preserve the sound to get it entered to the computer. I guess I'd probably need a 4-track then...Thanks so much for your help!
