Good program for getting your feet wet!
A post from the Powertracks forum about Majix Studio!
Hi Ron
I have spent some time earlier this year exploring budget music software - my current prime interest is Virtual Instruments. Although PT doesn't support this feature yet, the development of the realtime effects points the way.
There is a limit one can learn from Demo Software and in the end I opted for the cheapest version of Magix Studio 7, which had the best VSTi implementation. This Studio is actually two softwares cobbled together - a Midi Studio ( bought in from Logic) and an Audio Studio. Each can be operated separately and are joined
together via an Audio Studio command from the Midi Studio.
I don't intend to rabbit on - so to the crux - The Magix Support (based in Germany) only supports the Audio Studio, any comments re the Midi Studio is passed on (passed away?). They try manfully to answer such questions as why the programs do not work with SB Audigy Drivers (in the end I found that the program could piggyback on to an ASIO driver provided by a Demo of Cubase). Why the security measures required the CD to be resident in the CD Drive when loading the programs. Why the Midi studio doesn't recognise Banks 126 and 127 in the Patch Lists etc.
There is NO Forum for Majix Studio - thus you are on your own.
The cost in shekels is about the same as for PT, but the absence of a Forum such as PT costs a great deal more.
