It is time to add a new mic to my locker. I am thinking 3 things
1) Non Tube LDC
2) Matched Pair
3) Tube LDC
My current mics: 4 sm57, 2 blue ball, 4 at pro 91, 2 studio project c1, studio project b1, 2 studio project t3.
I can't decide if I would have much more benefit from using a matched pair. It has been my experience that it doesn't mak a difference to me, but maybe I am wrong. I just as soon use 2 t3's on guitar.
Basically I am trying to stay around $500 maybe a bit more. Here are my thoughts
Of course the usual 3 discussed pairs
SP c4's
oktava mk-012
rode nt5
Also for LDC:
Blue Bluebird
Blue Baby Bottle
Rode NTK
rode nt2000
rode k2
2 at4040's
at4033
at4047
at3060
at4050
Also feel free to make some more suggestions. I just can't decide or narrow it down.
The mics dont really have to have a flat frequency respone or uncolored. I would just like something that will give me a different sound than what I have. I also like mics that are superb with little weakness for a low price ie at4040. This is a good idea, but i can't decide if that is the right mic. Im not gonna try them before i buy. If i dont like it i will find a use for it or sell it to the studio.
I like utility mics, but i already have utlity mics.
I just cant decide
