I don't need to spend more than 20 bucks for a cable. My room isnt big so 10 feet should be enough. I need a cable that goes from a preamp to an interface and I was wondering if this a good deal right here

They include a mic and stand which i dont really need but HEY it comes with a cable and for 20 bucks?? But let me know if this cable will ruin my recordings :D Thanks

O cool...what do you think about the deals I found though?

ehhh my guess is that since it's from musician's friend, that the cables included in those deals are musician's friend cables which are definitely not the best cables. The best part about that package is the on-stage stand. If you are looking for cheap cables, you can get 8 25' cables for under 40 bucks on ebay.

I bought some of these a while back but haven't used them extensively. The soldering connections look good though and they are really thick soft feeling cables.

i have that onstage stand/mic/cable pack..............actually, now that i'm here..........i have the stand and my fucking looser ex room mates jacked all mic cables, instrument cables, pop filter, pc cables, ac power cables, and 1010lt breakout cable. i hope they fucking choke on it. a couple hundred bucks later, it's all replaced.

sorry, all this talk of cables just reminded me. the stand is a decent cheap stand, the cable is about what you can get at wal mart for $9, and the mic is a complete turd.

Absolutely. The best way to good quality at great prices is to build your own.

The sooner you learn, the sooner you'l start to save.

Yes, but you go right ahead and waste your money on that 2 dollar cable at MF and let them charge you 10 for it. Be my guest.

if you have the time and initial funds for soldering stuff, definately make your own. i have an assortment of connectors and just use the same two conductor cable to make up anything that i need.

yea, move on. cheap made cables are unreliable.

what brand do you suggest? i cant build my own :p

im not a douche either :D

20 bucks just cables for a good recording. Its going through a tube ppreamp and into another preamp so yea...

twenty bucks? a cheap cable and a soldering iron for when it goes down.

And I don't know WTF I'm talking about.

i missed that. actually, he was having a problem with his onboard pre's not having enough gain and harvey gearst recommended running the line out of one preamp to the line in of the second preamp. i would have never thought of something like that. seems like a good trick.

I like the idea of DIY. Can anyone recommened where to buy some cable and connectors? Assuming all I need is a soldering iron and screwdriver? (I can solder well.) I need to make a few long microphone cables as well as like 10 patch cables, etc. Guess I need a source for some TRS connectors as well. And a source for XLR and TSR patch panels.

Thanks,
James

I usually go to a local electronics store. But you may be able to find a deal on some wire & connectors on ebay.

www.mouser.com for the best prices on neutrik ts and trs connectors. either www.markertek.com or www.partsexpress for the best prices on neutrik xlr connectors (i can't remember which right now). markertek and partsexpress both sell cable and www.jacksmusicstore.com has some horizon cable which is good. gls has some decent cable for cheap: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=gls+bulk+mic+cable

be aware that some times there is a waiting period for really popular neutrik connectors like the nys204. i've been waiting 2 months for my last order but i'll continue to wait because i know they're good quality connectors at about $1 a piece.
