IF ITS A BAD RECORDING IT DOESENT MEAN THAT ITS A BAD SONG RIGHT??
Why do you keep saying that???? A bad recording makes it very difficult to judge a song period. If the recording is so bad (and yours are pretty hideous) that they get in the way of hearing the song, then yes, the songs themselves will likely be criticized more harshly simply due to the recording. Even worse than bad recording is bad performance...... no one's going to try and see thru to the song if it's played/sung badly.........
If I were you, I'd focus on improving your performance and writing skills before worrying about the recording.

I guess you could say Punk... I don't know man, music is music. Don't label it..just play it. if ppl like it it's all good...

Work on your songwriting and recording aswell , you are in the right path tho, and keep it up.

now listen to my songs and give me your oppinion ;)

Your music is the type of crude, immature, horrible music that we all write when we first begin to try to make music. Mine isn't much better so I'm not just trying to be a critic. It's just better to live in the real world so that you'll have a true basis upon which to judge your future progress. Just keep working at it. It will take years. Yes, years. Enjoy the ride.

what happens when you turn 15?

maybe you'll stop posting your songs everywhere.

kinda like if william hung took over vocal duty for the starting line or blink-182.

u need more self confidence and if u keep trying a learn from ur mistakes save up some money get some "ok" gear ull get a "ok" quality recording
and leave the terrible realm
good luck

COMEBACK OVERLOAD

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT EXPLODE!

I just wanted to let you know that you don't need to spend a ton of money on great gear to get a good sound. I have an audio and midi studio program that I bought for $50 that I do my recording with. I don't bother to mic anything because I will just run through a floor processor directly into my computer(I don't do vocals though, just instrumentals). The quality that I get isn't pro studio quality, but I think that if you heard it you would think that it sounds pretty damn nice. Since you do vocals though, you might need to get a decent sound card, interface and microphone, however if you really know how to use your equipment, you can get a good sound with less than you think. Recording is a creative process as well as writing. I think that you should also get a metronome and practice with that for a while.

to The Seifer, i was just answering his question.... i wasn't implying that i could sing. anyway to 14yearoldkid. if you want an upgrade from that radio shack mic, i bought a Behringer XM8500. it was only $20. it sounds pretty good for vocals and ok for guitar. i have a recording that has someone else singing other than me and it sounds decent if you want to hear it send me a private message. it's no SM58 but it gets the job done when you need a quick fix.

i have good mics

i have a 100 dollar mic i have a samson q-7 and a sm-57 but i dont know how to use them in my computer i have no clue so i just used my radio shack mic

ok this is a joke right?... i mean this 14yearold posted this message like 20 times in the last month! And in different forums as well!!! I Started to listen to that second one and then i had to shut it off.. it was busting my speakers..... there is NO flow to it at all... sounds like nothing but a random noise of pots and pans!.. the guitars started ok!.. but then it was just went ballistis like the pots andpans .. all random stuff.. no flow! The singing.. i am sorry i couldn hear it enought to say so....if that was singing! You were standing to close to the kitchen! you need to back away from the "percussion" and go in the living room and then sing your heart out into your tape recorder! i am sure that will do it justice!

lolol thanks for listening and making fun of it i appreciate it it tho its the truth :)

dude, ur stuff isnt bad. the recordings are, but then most of the ppl who reply to u here r recording nerds, so they will tell u different things than someone who just listens to music. (if it was like my cousin says, my recordings sound as good as "normal cds" lol)

but u definitely got some potential there, keep it up. as for recording, i would try to get more into it (if u take it serious), maybe buy some gear if u lack it, try urself on some mixing, and then post your recordings here.. here its about quality, not quantity :)

lol

damn i shoulndt have posted any of my music here lol because the recordings are shyt wish u could hear them live i learned my lesson i aint gonna post anything here inless the "recording " is good since all u dudes care about is the recording i dont blame u
thanks

1st - fuck "F-cksia"

if he said that to me I'd start a new thread every single day, or write a song about him.. :) fuck him!

dude, if you want to get people to listen to your stuff, just comment on their stuff.. even if you don't have anything technical to say, just say something.. even a 'cool tune' will make someones day and they might check out your stuff and *give you some advice on how to get better.*

learn how forums work.. people don't like it when you start too many threads..

people sometimes get annoyed here very fast.. I think a lot of these people don't get laid enough..

Anyway, I agree that you need to tighten up the performance.. Don't ever let anyone make you want to stop recording and don't look for approval on your writing.. write for yourself, and then maybe seek help in getting the mix to sound better.. if you don't have recording monitors, buy some.. it's the very best thing you can do to help your mixes..

when it comes to your writing, remember these words, 'fuck em!'

everything will fall into place after that..

Well said.

There is a LOT of VERY GOOD advice on this forum - it has helped me tremendously. However, there are a handful of primadonna's who forget that this is the HOMErecording.com bbs. They slam people for asking stupid questions, slam their music, or their choice of gear (not all of us can afford 'PRO' equipment, or atleast not all of our equipment). Critiques are one thing, you don't need to be an @ss.
