Looks like an older Yamaha to me, the tailpiece and headstock look like it, as does the pickguard....but I've been wrong before............gibs

That guitar is, without a doubt, a Lowden acoustic.
(...my favorite line of acoustic guitars, I just can't afford one!)

Just to be sure, I checked... and here's the article that confirms it, although they mis-spell Lowden as "Lauden".
This is a GREAT article on how he successfully took a bunch of songs he recorded in his bedroom on basic homerecording equipment and went multi-platinum.

BTW, the guitar he's playing looks like an O-Series acoustic, probably an O23 like this one. You'll reckognize the bridge and logo right away....

I'm looking to get a new acoustic soon and am just trying to get an idea with what alot of the "big name guys and girls" play on.

Hi Brandon..

Don't get caught up by name brands.....although there is indeed some creedence in the quality of the material and the artisans workmanship involved in creating a quality instrument.....
You might be pleasently surprised as to what you will find on the lower end of the spectrum as far as quality of tone and playability goes....ya just gotta get out to the stores and look and look and look.....and look.....
Did I mention that you had to look?

I've been out a few good times and played on a whole bunch, and while i wouldn't just say, "hey so and so plays a lowden, so i'm gonna buy one" it's cool to see that some big artists are using some of the brands you can walk into guitar center and play. I guess it's just more a curiosity thing.

I think i'm shooting for the $1500 range, give or take a couple hundred dollars. I've played the 16-series martins and the lower end taylors. The width of the taylors doesn't appeal to me very much. it just seems like there's a lot in my hand, at least more than i'm used to. I could probably deal with it, but i would rather be tempted by something that i grab and it feels perfect.

My constaints on the guitar is i'm looking for a cutaway and one with decent electronics. I haven't played the larrivee's, but i plan to soon as alot of people have expressed satisfaction over them.

If anyone has any suggestions i'm open to anything.

Have you tried a Rosewood Seagull?
Very sweet and I liked the electronics....
