I HAVE A GENERAL QUESTION I WAS WANTING FEEDBACK ON. IM INTO R&B AND RAP AND RIGHT NOW I HAVE A MPC2000XL. I WAS INTERESTED IN A KEYBOARD NOW AND WAS WANTING TO GET PROS/CONS OF

1. TRITON OR TRINITY
2. XP-80 OR (XP-60)
3. N364 OR N264
4. MOTIF'S

HONESTLY I JUST WANTING SOMETHING WITH GOOD SOUNDS AND IM NOT TRYING TO BREAK THE BANK. WITH THE MUSIC I WANT TO DO MOST OF THE SETUPS CONSIST OF A TRITON & MPC2000XL AND MY SUGGESTIONS WAS MAYBE GOING WITH SOMETHING DIFFERENT BUT THAT WOULD STILL GIVE ME WHAT I WANTED TO MAKE ME STANDOUT FROM THE REST. ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Yo Justballin:

Suggest you get out and have a ball running your fingers over some keyboards at a vendor so you can HEAR WHAT YOU ARE GETTING FOR THE MONEY.

I'm sure most people who post here will tell you much about keyboards -- use the search function to get their expertise.

Years back I walked into a dealer and played the Yamaha DX7 synth -- it's still the number one keyboard in my studio even if it took me three years to blast through the learning curve of how the board REALLY functions. But, that's part of the game.

You can get a light, easy to tote board, or a heavy board that's more difficult to tote -- depends on what you want to do. Always nice to have a couple of boards if you're doing gigs, just in case one gets sick.

So, look, search, go out and test and your ears and wallet will find the "right" board to wail upon.

:D :D  :p

get the triton over the the trinity. the trinity sounds are very 1995-6 ish, unless that's what you're looking for. i think you can get the trinity sounds as an upgrade for the triton anyway.

but make sure you listen to the keyboards before you buy anything!!!

Chriss should be with you shortly...

BTW I use the Triton, like it OK, should be good for Hip-Hop oriented stuff. Oh and easy on the caps lock, some dudes here consider that shouting, not gettin on ya' just a forewarning!

yeah, id say triton. and if you get the Triton rack, you get the 8 expansion PCM slots too.

the EMU proteus is a very good unit too.

hehehe.. yes.. suggesting motif of course :D.. but seriously, for hip hop and rap, a Korg Triton LE isn't bad at all.. got bigger sampler than the regular and is expandable as shit..

But since you already have a sampler on the MPC (unless you need more ram), i'm inclined to agree with LongWaveStudio here..
get yo'self a Custom Proteus and get the sound expansions you want.. it's a gold piece of equipment and E-MU makes perhaps the best ROM sounds out there along the line of yamahas AWM2 boards.

I like the triton and trinity but it seems like every damn thing on the hip hop and r&b radio nowadays has these in the song. If you want to be different you could do what I do and buy up some vintage synths. In rap and r&b, my goal is to have my own unique sounds and I achieve this with using synths that nobody really use. Don't get me wrong, you could use the triton and/or trinity but I would tweak the hell out of it to get my own personal sounds out of it.

By the way, I think the sound quality on the Trinity is actually better than the Triton, so there, call me crazy! The triton does offer more sound possibilities though.
