Is mineral wool heavier? Does it make you itch? Are there any advantages to using one over ther other?

I have read, however, that because it is more dense, higher frequencies are more likely to ricochet off if the angle of incidence is too big.

uhh.. kinda... mineral wool is not all 8 pcf... I've seen mineral anywhere from 2.5 pcf, 4pcf, 5pcf, up to 10pcf, just depends on what product you get exactly. Rigid fiberglass is, like the name suggests, rigid, however most mineral wool is only semi-rigid, meaning it needs support to hold itself up. If not, it may tend to sag. I believe mineral does make you itch, just not to the same extent. Personally, i favor mineral wool for room treatment, mainly because it is a lot cheaper. In my area (Georgia), a box of 6 2" OC 703 will cost around $60... a box of 6 2" mineral wool will cost anywhere from $15 to $30 a box. People claim that rigid fiberglass in general absorbs more than mineral wool, however i am yet to see how. I have seen the NRC ratings of just about every fiberglass and mienral wool product on the market and the mineral wool just about always has the same if not better NRC ratings with the same thickness. The best products I have seen are Roxul Safe 'n Sound, Roxul Safe, and IIG Sound Attentuation Fire Batts.
EDIT: Mineral wool is, in general, better for bass trapping, but the higher densities do not reflect higher frequencies as believed. Maybe a little bit, but not enough to even notice.
