Another brick in the wall
I was reading a thred and Alsihad was brought up. I've never heard of it, but in the page I read it sounds like it's a thing that fixes timing problems, which is really cool. I'm not positive, so maybe someone here knows something about it!

It is a ProSoundWeb euphemism for Pro Tools. It was coined by Fletcher (I think) and the common useage there is indicative of the prevailing distrust and dislike of Digidesign and its products.

Some moderators there even prohibit the mention of "Pro Tools" or "Digidesign". You are required to say "Alsihad" and "Mother of Alsihad".

This has been going on for so long that it has taken on a life of it's own, including a whole glossary of Alsihad based terms.

It probably seems a little silly when you first read it. That's probably because it is a little silly.

It was coined from the expression "All's I had to use was ProTools..." that I understand was becoming increasing heard among Mixerman and Fletcher's "crowd"...........

Now that you mention it, I really hate Prosoundweb, all they do there is post stupid insider jokes and you can view tha posts there for an hour and dont find one even close to useful- Not like this BBS where you could fill tons of books with useful tips, tricks and info. Praise to you guys who answer all of our questions and post intelligent or interesting questions. I´ve been here regularly for six months and dont know what I would have done without it. i have really learnd A LOT. This BBS is the best so far....IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!1:D

Finally, I find the best (or at least _an_) explanation. That's basically what I figured.
But you think I could find an explanation on ProSoundWeb ?
Nope.

And you're right, alonso, this site is definitely useful...

Thanks, Bruce, ya made my day !

Actually ive found PSW to be fairly educating, only problem is you have to wade through hours of wanking and blo-hardishness to get any useful info. And in that sense, i didnt always get useful info like whats a good $100 LDC out there, but rather why i shouldnt use it on a Pro tools rig heh.
Seriously, Harvey has a forum there thats half ok-The J Hall one is decent. The best way to get use out of that site? -Search Button-

i gotta admit... i find it quite funny there... but i don't go lookin to learn something... i go to laugh...

That would be like going to a Nascar race and asking the drivers what Honda will give you the best MPG.

I think alsihad actually started on Recording.org, before PSW hired fltecher, bob buontempo and mixerman away

Mixerman's forum is a bunch of guys blowing off steam at the end of a long day. It is not an equipment forum, it is a social forum for people who live a certain life style, and understand the same slang. It is PRO sound web, and it is intended for an audience who already understands HOW to make a recording. However, at the end of the day, after kiss the ass of some idiot label mook, or ad exec, or whoever is holding the checkbook for a session, Mixerman’s forum allows one to talk freely. It is a service to the sanity of the professional AE's who hang out there.

If you do not enjoy it, perhaps you are not the target audience. I am not the target audience for a Brittany Spears album, and I do not enjoy her music. I can assure you that her managers do not care about my disdain for her music, just as Mixerman is not concerned with your dislike of his forum. Same principle, just an issue of intended audience.

Prosoundweb is funny. Slipperman comes up w/ some really wacky and really funny shit. Just don't go there and mention Home Recording. Harvey's forum is pretty good. He helps people without assing around.
