No, but a regular guitar cable is a ts. The TS stands for Tip/Sleeve, which indicates an unbalanced cable. A TRS is a Tip/Ring/Sleeve, balanced cable.
There are other cables that can also be TS or TRS.
I don't disagree with you. What did I say that was incorrect? I understand the concept of the balanced cable. Tip (positive - left), Ring (Negative - right), Sleeve (Ground) which is used in a stereo connection. You can also use two TS cables for a stereo connection.

However, technically (even if you do record mono) the signal running through the TRS (balanced cable) will be a stereo signal (meaning one signal on the Tip & one on the Ring - even if it's the same signal).
