gurpy789; thanks alot! however, i don't have a mixer or plugins installed...can i use a feature in cubase to do this...? if so, how?
I think this begs the question....if you have no clue what it does or what its purpose is for, why do you want the feature so much?
(granted its actually a very basic technique/feature available in virtually every DAW in existence, but still, the point stands)
Curiosity my dear Watson, curiosity.....
I guess that when one is new and trying to develop and improve one's recording and mixing, in the course of research, one comes across all these terms and phrases {Compression, room sound, gating, fix in the mix, ADT, pop shield, variable sweep, parametric EQ, toslink, aftertouch, unbalanced, dithering, phase, damping, ground loop, waveform, etc, etc, etc } that make you wonder, especially if they seem to crop up again and again. Their regularity give the impression that this is something common/ordinary, and that everyone should know about it. Ergo, one then starts to wonder, "what it's all about" and what kind of, if any, difference these things might make.
Heck, I feel a song coming on.......
I'm reminded of a line from the song 'Coming in from the cold' by Bob Marley;
"Well, the biggest man you ever did see was once a baby...."
In other words, we all have to start somewhere. And slowly but surely move on to somewhere.
