various types of wire (all decent) and neutrik's connectors. Have a few monster cables... good quality WAY overpriced.

How about George L Vintage cables? Been thinking of getting a kit, you don't need to solder anything, just cut the length you want and tighten the plugs on - the quality is supposed to amazing (a lot better than Monster cables when tested side by side). The reviews online are pretty impressive but who knows who wrote them anyway! Anyone here had any experience with these?

I second that question, and raise you with one of my own... I read through and saw someone mention a cable with a silver core wire. Does this make a huge audible difference? I was recording in a smaller studio about a year ago, and the engineer suggested going back and adding a couple of tracks with a POD (at this point, we were all just effing around). He hooked the POD up with a 1/4" cable he said was nickel... Ever since my curiosities have really been peeked by this... :p

Cheapie, bog standard ones either bought from Maplin (discount electrical store in UK) or taken from my cardboard box full of spare cables.

Can I hear the difference between those and 'pro' ones? Honestly: no...
