oh yeah... this was damn cool. sublimish, but so what... excellent vocals. hell, excellent everything. I just saw your a christian rocker.. so excuse the expletitives....

be sure to post a link on how we can buy this cd when it's done.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I was waiting for the Madonna comment :). Actually, Emosia (my producer) called someone in NY who had worked on the "Music" album with Madonna, to ask what they thought about it, and turns out it's nothing like it when you compare the chord progressions side to side. The "Don't Tell Me" song has a 4 chord progression, where my song simply variates on D. :) But...they do feel similar...oh well.

Thanks again for listening and letting me know what you think!

 I thought it was just me.. I also hear the 'sublime' reference that wes made..

i had the same madonna/sublime reaction but more madonna than sublime...although i was always surprised at how much that sublime song sounded like lady madonna. anyway, i thought that hard gated acoustic guitar sounded cool the first time i heard the madonna song but i don't care for it anymore. to me, it sounds kind of out of place in this song. i know my opinion matters very little cause i'm sure you have a producer with a better ear for what will sell but i gotta say it. can't keep my mouth shut. i would just like to hear this song without all of the sample production cause it sounds best when the chorus kicks in and everything sounds more 'real'. so i guess maybe that's the contrast that you're aiming for and you got it.

it's a good song and i really like the chorus, the layered vocals sound very nice. very professional. the singer has a great voice.

the real drums sound nice but the snare is coming off a little dead for my taste.

just my two cents. thanks for posting.

Thats interesting you call it gated, because the only gating we used was my playing hand muting the strings. Funny thing is that we have been playing this song live for a few months now, and I always play it on electric in our live show. Sounds cool, in a different way.

Thanks!

that's some really clean muting! well done! i'd like to hear the electric thing. anyway, don't take my comments for much, cause it sounds better than anything i'll ever achieve.

i really do like the song though my comments above might convey a negative tone.

'hope the applause is not "too hard to hear" from here :) ... really nice composition...the vocal stack took me by suprise in the chorus hook. I`ve only heard Seal use stacking structure in that fashion, it soars. Its smooth and comforting in the mix.....and the pickin is good.

H2H,

First rate job. Everything sounds real nice. I loved the vocals.
Funny how everyone hears something different; first thing I thought of was Sugar Ray ('cept for the vocals).

I'd really like to hear more of what's going to be on the CD.

Twist

great tune and production ... the only thing I would turn the vocal up a bit ... the guitar kept grabing attention in the verses ...

i agree, i'd like the vocals up just a hare...then again, when I did some "self-mastering" it brought out the vocals, so that'll probably fix it.

I don't mind people comparing it to other artists' songs...heck, it's pop music. Especially when being compared to multi platinum selling artists! :)

VERY NICE INDEED! The production on this is sweet, very pro sounding. Personal preference would be a little more on the vocals and snare, but man this sounds great! Super job :D

make sure you send multiple mixes to the mastering house, such as vocal up....;)
