The guitar I like to beat on is the my beloved Fender American-Series strat. Been using Dean Markley Blue Steel .011-.052 on it with the wound G string, and the guitar totally came alive. I can't put the damn thing down anymore, and my hands are starting to hurt, (bad). Like all Fenders, the crafstmanship is rough, but it screams so loud it makes you forget. I play this guitar exclusively on
my Peavey Classic 50 4x10 combo amp or into my other Classic 50 head.
Other guitars include :
1978 Gibson Les Paul Pro, which was my first guitar. My dad bought it for himself when I was 7, and I started playing it the day he brought it home. It had soap bar pickups and my dad "modified", or should I say, hacked it to fit regular ibanez-style humbuckers. It now sports two DiMarzio Super Distortions. Sounds about as mean as a guitar can sound, but I really only use it to play nice smooth jazz chords on a clean channel. It almost sounds like a hollow-body. Sounds very buttery on the Peavey clean channel, and I can get it to sound like an early bluesbreaker Clapton sound on the dirty channel. Plugged into
the Rocktron Voodu Valve, this guitar is an absolute metal monster.
My dad and I also share a mid-'90s Fender Strat Plus and
an Ibanez RG-570. The Ibanez is a total shred-master, and is very well built, especially considering the price. Both these guitars are used mainly with the Rocktron.
