Hey everyone! This is my first post here, and very likely not my last. I just installed cubase LE and am trying to turn some MIDI files I have into backing tracks for my band. There are strings, piano, etc. How would I go about doing this? I figured out how to apply a VTI instrument and I can get sound no problem. My main question I guess is what good VTI instruments are out there that I can use to make the track sound authentic? And am I supposed to be using the term "VTI instrument" in this way?
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
I would highly recommend
Kontakt 3. If it were possible, I would literally have sex with it.
I assume you mean VSTi which is Virtual Studio Instrument. It doesnt matter how you refer to it really, people will understand.
Kontakt really is your best bet. I did a lot, i mean a lot, of research into this and for an all around answer, its spot on. Its got a selection of strings, woodwinds, brass and perc from vienna symphonic library, which is the best orchestra VST around. Its got a great band section with some nice kits and bass.
The guitars sound bad, but then again all guitar samples are pretty poor imo, and these are at least partially useable for demos and quick stuff. The only thing it lacks is solo strings, all string patches are sections.
There is a whole host of synths and percussion. You can create your own instruments by binding wav files to various keys/MIDI inputs.
I got mine on student discount at £176, so if thats avaliable then go for it. Even at full price its the best thing around.
