What equipment do I need for therapy headphones!

If I was trying it I'd be in control of my device and the client's device,
so the client just gets headphones - Ideally bluetooth.

For talk I'd use discord (potentially) for the easy of use and built in noise reduction,
and for music I'd just play that directly on the client's device.

The delay comes more from the audio having to go back and forth between discord's servers, plus their noise reduction,
but I feel like it should be acceptable. I'm only ever really aware of it in situations where people attempt to do something in unison,
or when people get in to, what I call, competitive talking.

There's probably a much better, local, way to get noise reduction in to the loop,
but I can't think of a simpler 'let's try it now' option without the need for additional equipment.

Morning, so this is so far where I have settled. TWO potential options and would love your input.

1) There is a Hypnotherapist in the UK that solved this issue by creating his own system that he sells, but the price is high considering that I can get the majority of the parts myself. https://www.hypno-quip.co.uk/product/hypno-com-8-expert/ -- I am considering this as its the easiest and quickest solution that has been tested over the years.

2) I currently own a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. This is what I currently have listed to order:

- Behringer Xenyx 502s Sound Mixer
- 1/4 to 3.5mm headphone adapter (for the Bose Qc35s)
- 1/4 to 3,5mm Mic adapter for the wireless headphone that I bought from Alibaba with 2.4gh dongle.
- Lightning to RCA cable audio adapter (for music streaming)
- USB B to USB C cable to connect the sound mixer to my Macbook Pro for recording the sessions

All of this via Amazon is running me about $115. compared to the $500 for the system above plus import and shipping fees. The last issue that I am having is the microphone. I am realizing that I actually need a 3.5mm or XLR headset with the ear muffs, so i can monitor what's going through the headsets to the client. That being said, if i needed to add an XLR headset that has a good microphone and sound for monitoring, i am finding theyre between $100-$250.

I am now realizing that that sound mixer only allows the capability to receive output via one phone jack, so monitoring wouldnt work, even if I bought an XLR headset with mic. am I understanding that correctly?

What do you guys think? Any recommendations?

Yes indeed. However the headphone output is pretty robust and would stand a 2 way split. You can probably find a 'One in 2 Out' device that also has volume control.
Alternatively you could get the Behringer HA400 headphone amp. OK, more spending but it has 4 outputs with independent volume control. You could actually have that at the client's end and allow them to set the level?

These kind of questions are tricky because, although there is a wealth of equipment and knowledge out there that can do the job in several ways it tends to be 'bits and pieces' and there will be an inevitable degree of wasted time and money.

How would the HA400 work?

Looking at that system that was designed for what we are attempting to do. We'd need a headset with an earmuff to monitor and a good enough microphone. the headset that I have with the microphone, how would that connect to the 502s and the HA400 for me to be able to talk/monitor the sound? what kind of adapter would I need?

Hang on there! If you are going for two 502s you don't need another HP amp. The mixer your end gives you your monitor feed and the second mixer takes the line out from the first and delivers the second headphone output. That mixer could be close to you or fed over a pair of TRS cables if you wanted the mixer at the client's end. Once again I am bound to say IMHO you need to jump into some hardware and get to know it. "Adapters" can be the wrong internal wiring. I am fortunate in that I can just cobble up what I need with a solder iron!

This is "Home Recording" and I am sure all here will tell you that they struggled to understand how to put a system together. Your requirement is different but related and some cost and blind alleys will be part of the journey.
