I got a Audigy 2 sound card and a keyboard im borrowing from a friend, a ds-8 or something.
I have one of those midi joystick ports, so how do i connect the keyboard to my pc?
also I have Reason and cool edit, can i use either of these to record midi with? ant other tips would be helpful, thanks

First of all, connect MIDI Out of your Joystick/MIDI port to your keyboard's MIDI In, and connect MIDI In of your Joystick/MIDI port to your keyboard's MIDI Out. Then we may need to select MIDI I/O port from the application you use.

Nope. So far I know, CoolEdit doesn't support MIDI except for trigger only. You need MIDI sequencer software to do so. I'm not familiar with Reason, but from my limited knowledge, it acts more like software synthesizer and groove generator (similiar to Fruity Loops or Project5)... I can be wrong, but it also has limited MIDI sequencer function.

Get yourself MIDI sequencer software like Cakewalk (Home Studio, SONAR, etc), Cubase (VST, SX, etc), Nuendo, or N-Track. They will do MIDI processing activities in advance more than two you mentioned above.

thanks. I'll see what reason can do, if I need something else i'll look into cakewalk or something
