what does ORTF stand for?

Hey Everyone,

What does ORTF stand for, when referring to mic placement?

It says in a site that it is the French version of FCC .......

It's a microphone placement technique. The idea is to simulate your head, by placing the microphones 17 centimeters apart and angled at 110 degrees. It's not very popular because it's complicated (you can get phase problems) and how well it works depends a lot on the mics.

Possibly it originated at ORTF? (Yes, some searching on the net confirms this).
