Seems to be another copy of a U87, not really as it's less switchable, but seems on par by impressions. I hadn't really heard of it. Although it seems to be the mic to get in that $1K range. Some quirks with sibilance by reviews, otherwise a nice one. Lot's of U87 and U47 clones out there. But if you're after a U87, why not get a U87 (aside from the price)?

(lots of Sss Ssss Sssss stuff in that one.)

because i def wanna try a u87 before purchase when i know i can just drop into a studio and test one out. Another reason is i wanna wait till later to get one would rather get a nice preamp first to have it ready and then i need to mentally prepare my self to spend that type of dough for a microphone. As of right now i am doing this music as a hobby. I just would like a good mic that gets the job done a little better then average.

Check out how much most mics would be worth if you bought it new and tried to resell it the next day.

Then check out the cheapest used U87 (I've seen them $1600 recently) and how much you could sell it for the day after you bought it.

I haven't seen anybody making clones of Soundelux mics. All the copies seem to be of the Neumanns.

I still maintain that the first thing I'd buy if I was starting out would be a U87. A U87, a free computer, a free recording app like Reaper, stereo speakers for free and some POS interface from Craigslist for $20 would be where I'd start. The mic is the only thing that there's no way around. After that get some serious speakers and a great mic pre.

Having a great computer and a good mic is ass backwards.

Your right about that. I mean as far as computer and power, thats no problem computers is my hobby and ive come to cope with spending money on pc parts and upgrades every year or 2. One thing i do like about music hardware parts is that they dont upgrade every 6 months to a year, there is a refresh every once and a while a long but its pretty much the same stuff, so i guess if you do buy the good stuff its not like you have to worry about something coming out soon.

Also ive read some stuff about the u87, because i am mainly using this for hiphop, or if i find some friends that would like to record. i mean i hear its an awesome mic But i guess i need to give it a shot. since i can almost walk into any studio and they should have that mic. I mean ill pay the 25 to 45 dollar an hour fee to test it out, that would be worth it just to test out a 3k+ mic. Also i never been in a studio so it wouldnt be a bad experience to see one in person :)

To me the U87 is the standard mic. It's not really that great when you try other Neumanns like a U48. It's just, to me, the cheapest mic that's good enough.

Lots of people will disagree with that. I understand because you don't need a specific mic, you just need a mic that works with your voice. If that's a $30 used SM57 then that's 100% ok and actually great because you saved so much $.

The trouble is that most people get their preferences from listening to their heroes, and the chances are that the vocals on most of the CD's you like were done with U87's. So even if U87's actually suck, it's the sound we've all got used to.

Keep in mind that if you try a U87 in a studio you might be hearing better "everything else", i.e. room, headphones, mic pre, mixer than you're used to so that will add up too.

I'd use my ears and in the end not care what anybody else said. It's like shoes, it doesn't matter what everybody else likes. Do what's right for you. All I can tell you is what worked for me and that really may be terrible advise for you. We all have very limited life experiences. :)

True that, atm i am recording in an open room. So i know it will sound different, i just want to know what it can potently sound like. Also what ive noticed, i mean a condenser mic cant sound horrible i mean i know some can sound a lot better for your voice and what not, but its sitll pumping out clarity. nothing distorted or anything. I guess once you get in the higher end and if you are a true audio engineer at heart you would want the absolute best possible sounding mic you can get with your vocals.
