What do have between your guitar and amp?

I used to be crazy for stomp boxes, but now I have only a delay (because my amp doesn't have reverb), a distortion pedel that I use only to boost my gain and sometimes a little chorus is nice. Oh, and sometimes I like to use a wah.

There's nothing between my guitar and my amp!

(it's all about the fingers, dude!!!) ;)

There's an Tube Screamer and a Jimi Hendrix-wah between my guitar and my amp.

It is often much more interesting trying to be creative with juts a minimum, instead of having some multi effect stuff you can't use properly.

I'm the other way, myself. I have a lot between my guitar and my amp. First there's a tuner, which doesn't really count, and then I have a Boss auto wah, a Snarling Dogs wah, a Boss ME-30 multieffect unit, and a DOD flanger. I'm also using that red Boss power supply/master switch, which is handy for cutting out all the effects. I hardly ever do that, though. I typically don't do a whole lot with the multieffects. I have a little compression and a very subtle slapback echo on the clean settings. The dirty settings are just distortion, I think. I have a little mid boost in the EQ on most settings. Usually I keep things basic, but sometimes it's nice to be able to use the ring modulator or other exotic stuff. I can play just into an amp and it sounds good, but I get a better tone with these effects than with my amp. If I had a nice tube amp I'd probably go simpler, but I don't.

I used to have about 10 DOD and Boss pedals in my chain.. then it all got ripped off. Now I just have a Mesa Boogie V-Twin. But it's basically just adding another "channel". I use 2 amps as well. Roland JC120 and a Marshall Artist 3203. All midi controlled via a Rockman Midi Octopus and an ART X15 Ultrafoot. I do have an old ART SGE, but it just sits there as a shelf.

Strat and Epi Les Paul into a V-amp 2 into a Hafler P1200 into an open backed cab with an ElectroVoice 12L,switching via ART X15 midi pedal.

from a 64'sg to digitech whammy to vox wah to sovtek big-muff pi to a boss se50 stereo effects unit--left out to a fender twin, right out to a peavey butcher...most of the time I only use the boss for it's reverb...

Back when I USED TO have a nice setup, it was still pretty simple:

Guitar: Gibson "The Paul"

Electro-Harmonix Linear Power Booster (LPB) II

Vox-King Wah-Wah (maybe this was in the effects chain ahead of the LPBII, but I can't remember at the moment)

Electro-Harmonix Polyflanger

... all running into a 1981 Fender Pro Reverb. Sweet stuff, indeed!

C'mon now, I'll bet you at least use a little reverb.

Well, there's nothing but a 15' Monster cable between the guitar and the amp but the amp is a Line6 AX2 with the midi foot controller so I still have access to tons of effects, wa wa and volume pedel and all the amp model.

At the moment, Brujah, my German Shepherd is laying on my cable.

I suppose I could go over and stomp on him a few times, just for effects.

Naaa, I'll let one of you guys.

My main guitar is an Ibanez '88 roadstar, and it gets sent directly into a Randall 100w 2x12 2-channel amp. The internal reverb sucks, but the gain on channel one is awesome, and the chorus is sometimes usable. It's mic'ed with a 57 which is sent to a dbx mini tube pre before going in. From there I have lots of mic modeling capabilties to get different sounds.

dude probably doesn't have a DSL connection in his bathroom or a laptop. ;)

I have a J-Station too, but I only use it to record. You just can't beat that digital out thing. The best part is that they have a sim of my amp (blonde bassman) and it's very good.
