Anyone know of a good free multi-band compressor? I don;t even know what you call them - but they compress certain EQ frequencies... I think there is one that comes with Cakewalk... I am using Cubase so they have to be .dll or something -

I really should know more about this =X

hey try this link out its a fairly good multi band compressor VSTPLANET - VST Plugins Free - Virtual instruments and effects i use this site a lot. i check it every week as they are always updating it with freebies including samples and software.

This thread is mostly about free plugins and in that arena there is a HUGE discrepancy of quality. In any other thread I would agree with you but I feel you're being a bit too militant on this issue at this juncture.

Chill out, dude!

Cheers :)

i dont think so. i have some waves stuff and i have around 2000 free plugins. quality free plugins are hard to find but once found are some of the best plugins to use. what i'm trying to say is don't jump straight on the band wagon of paying for plugins is the best way to go because its not true. once you find a good site or 2 of freebies then thats all you might need.

no worries mate they have loads of stuff on there if you look through the old archives it will link you to other sites and things like that. hope you find what you are looking for in there and shed loads more!!!!

Certainly not the only "best" out there but Native Instruments NEVER ceases to amaze me and they are not terribly expensive if you buy the Komplete sets. I recommend Komplete 6 right now, not 7. Go to KVR-audio.com to check out tons of software, loads for free, some not of course.

I can't compare with real MOOG synth or VSTi but I like to use this Free VSTi => MINIMOOG VA = Big warm analog synth sound !

+1 for Glaceverb...almost the only 3rd party reverb plug in I use. One point...you can also download it direct from the people who wrote it HERE. The site was down for a while and I was getting worried so good to see it back.

Another unusual one I've used more often than I can believe is Izotope Vinyl HERE. What it does is "mess up" your track to make it sound like an old vinyl record or optical film track--complete with electrical noise and wow and flutter etc. Sounds horrible but can be useful!
