What are the basic Equipments in a standard Recording Studio

The truth is Im planning to make extra bucks by building a recording studio on one of my apartments bachealor type that has not been rented since last year. Im planning also to put a band in it for band recording. But I dont know where to start. Please Help me. I wanna start by knowing the basic recording equipments. I already got a P4 PC and a CDR. Can anybody Explain and sketch the other equipments needed? Thank you very much.
 
Recorders, mics, preamps, drummers, hookers, dealers, roaches...........
 
Hmmm... before you even LOOK at gear -- you need to worry about sound isolation/studio construction.....
 
I have already isolated the place even when someone is playing the drums and all the speakers are working It doenst make any noise outside only when someone opens the exit door but its just like a wishper because I double the doors and also put corks on it.
 
Cork??? that won't do shit... what about people below/above?? what about the sound inside the rooms themselves??

Also - do you need a control room? An isolation room?? Drum room??? What about studio layout??????

And not to mention - who are you marketing to? What is your intended client base?? Who are your competitors??? Will you have cash flow to get over the business start-up hump??? What about marketing and advertizing costs???? Financing????? etc......

There's much more to worry about if you're serious about the studio as a viable business than just the gear....

Dimetre- What you've asked is a HUGE question. To help stay focused how much are you planning on spending? No point in giving you $50k worth of specs if you only plan on spending a few hundred.

Speaking of amateurs... You are so far ahead of yourself, I don't know where to begin. If you actually have capital (and you'd better, because like most businesses, you're going to spend a shit load of money before you make any). The smartest thing you could do is:
1. Put a lawyer on retainer, so any work- for- hire agreements, recording contracts, etc. will stand up in a court of law.

2. Hire an architect who specializes in acoustic treatment and construction, because you don't know anything about it.

3. Hire a competent recording engineer!!! Let the nice engineer and the architect design the acoustic space and submit a budget with blueprints. If the sticker shock from that doesn't give you a heart attack, you may actually have a chance of building a commercial studio. And- you'll actually have someone with a clue how to use all the gear you're about to sell your soul for.

What you have just asked is- "I'm thinking of making some money by turning my extra apartment into an operating room. What equipment is needed for an operating theater?" Sir, you are not any more a recording engineer than you are a brain surgeon.
A successful commercial studio requires a boatload of expensive gear, but it also requires expertise. Recording expertise, which requires *years* of training and experience, and business expertise, to translate all that gear and skill into a profit. You have your cart before your horse.-Richie

36. at least 10 mono 1/4" audio cable to 1/4" mono

well thanks anyways for other peoples reply too though it didnt help me that much it gave me an idea. sorry if my questions were missleading Im just a newbie in recording studio but the heck with lawyers I dont need it in my country just for recording studio hehehe...
