uhh...just the usual i guess. also i've noticed though that the knobs seem kinda flimsy, but if you don't abuse them you shouldnt encounter any probelms.

When hould you shut it off? Whenever youre not using it? Is it bad to shut it off/ trn on with mics plugged in

I just wanna be sure...

Iv heard the firewire connectors are relatively fragile, so take care when you insert and remove your f/w cable from the firepod and make sure no one trips over the wire when its in.

Just make sure that the gain / trim isnt turned up when you turn it on, you could also end up damaging your monitors quite severely if something unexpected happens like feedback etc

Try not to spill coffee over it either.

I've had mine on for 14 months now .. The power's been off only 3 or 4 times, for a few minutes, while I moved things around.

I think in general, you'll be fine if you turn it off at the same time you turn the computer off. (i.e. in my case, never :))

It's not bad for the Firepod, no. And the phantom power ramps up slowly, so it shouldn't be bad for any mics connected.

HOWEVER: one thing you've gotta watch for, if you switch mics while the power is off, is that you don't inadvertantly connect a ribbon mic to a channel that has the phantom power enabled.

To be safe, I always turn the phantom power off before making any mic changes. This forces me to think about what I'm doing, rather than just plugging things in and regretting it later.

ya, i dont have any ribbon mics, so i dont have to worry bout that lol

thanks!

Do:
*Mount it in a rack if you have one.
*Plug in microphones.
*Record music.

Don't:
*Eat it.
*Use it for batting practice.
*Stuff it in your pants for the appearance of a bigger package.
*Strap it to your head and walk around screaming obscenities at children.
*Glue it to the bottom of your shoe to make yourself appear about an inch and a half taller. (unless you have two of them)
*Use it to try and pick up chicks. They don't care.
*Attempt to put out large electrical fires with it.

I have a firepod. The only thing I can recommend is that you get room treatment along with it. It's a pretty honest pre and if your room sucks, it will shine through. Firewire connectors for some reason stick out the back, which might be a problem if there are idiots around.

For only 500 bucks...The Firepod is pretty sweet. It's budget stuff though, so you need, above all, good mic technique and a good room to record in since it's not nearly as forgiving as some of the preamps I've played with.

also dont wedge it between other rack things as a holder while you screw something else in....

Ive heard some people had issues unplugging the firewire cable while its switched on, so I always turn it off b4 pulling cables

lol, thanks

So, Im supposed to turn all the gains down everytime?

Lemme guess, he flushed it with the whammy bar.

...And then wondered why the toilet paper was only 2" wide.
