I have twelve 2'x2'x'2 Auralex panels and was thinking of how to treat my studio room (rectangular 10' x 12' or so with a sloping 8' to 12' ceiling) non-destructively.

So I found adhesive foam-board at Hobby Lobby (maybe put some glue in addition??). I figure T-pins to affix them.

The only downside is the back, which I can put thicker felt on the back to solve... I would think.

Also, I can cut the foam-board to make different size panels AND I could hand some by string if I were so inclined.


THOUGHTS? QUESTIONS? COMMENTS?

12 2'x2'x2" Auralex squares aren't going to make a dent in a room that's going to need entire truckloads of broadband trapping (okay, small trucks - But undoubtedly, lots and lots of broadband trapping).

Always start with the low end. Start with the low end always. Low end - Start with - Always. Every time, no exceptions, ever, ever, Ever, EVER.

Hanging the squares though -- Whatever works. I know people who use T-pins, pushpins, AuraTak (or whatever they call the stuff)...
 
I got 4 5' 703 strips, wrapped and floor mounted, for that.
 
What are these foam boards you speak of? Are they intended to be your broadband traps? Are they meant for acoustics? Post a link or brand name or specs...
 
(I cannot post a link until 10 posts) It is just standard foam board that you get at a hobby store, just with one side coated with adhesive. But you can Google "Elmer's Quick-Stik Self-Adhesive Foamboard"

It is only to keep the form of the Auralex panels so I can T-pin them in the wall. I'll put felt on the back
